CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands on method of releasing tensions around the brain and spinal cord to enhance central nervous system performance and allow the body to self correct. It was developed by osteopathic physician John E Upledger after years of clinical research and testing at Michigan State University. This light touch approach can create dramatic improvements in your life as it releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain, dysfunctions and improve whole-body health and performance.
When the tensions of the CranioSacral and nervous system are gently released through specific techniques, a client can find ease and deep relaxation. When the restrictions unwind and soften - when the pushes and pulls on your body are suspended - your mind and being can also relax. This allows you to strengthen your connection to self, which is where your healing potential lies. By freeing the central nervous system to perform at it best, CST has been shown to naturally reduce pain and stress, strengthen your resistance to disease, and enhance your health and well-being.
CranioSacral Therapy improves your body's ability to take better care of you. It has been shown to help a full spectrum of pain and dysfunction, including:

What to Expect from a Session
What you experience during a CranioSacral session is highly individual. Some people say they feel deeply relaxed while others describe feeling of warmth and unwinding sensations as well a gentle pulsing in the areas the therapist is working on.
A typical CranioSacral session takes place in a quiet, private setting. You remain fully clothed as you relax on a comfortable, padded table. Your therapist begins by monitoring the rhythm of the fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system. By carefully listening with the hands to locate areas of weak fluid flow or tissue motion, delicate manual techniques are then used to release those problem areas to improve the form and function of your central nervous system while strengthening the body's natural healing process. Because CST is so gentle, it can be effective for all ages, from newborns to elders. Learn more about CST for Pediatrics.
